About

International Queer Video Game Association is a celebration of video games made by queer people and games that put queer characters on screen, from anywhere in the world.

Our goal

To help people discover great queer games. They're out there, from huge studio releases to tiny games made in a weekend, but they can be hard to find, and the best ones often get buried. This directory gathers them in one place, checked and sourced, so you can find your next favourite. Not sure where to start? Try the game finder.

About me

I'm Curtis Campion, a game developer from Sydney, Australia, and the founder of Cafe Empty, a queer-owned indie studio. I made Newfound Courage, a pixel-art adventure about a young man falling for a kind-hearted local in a mysterious clifftop town. Making it showed me how much people want to see themselves in games, and how hard queer games can be to find. This site is my way of helping fix that.

What gets in

A game belongs in the directory if at least one of these is true:

  • Queer characters: the game features LGBTQIA+ characters in a meaningful way, not just as a hidden easter egg.
  • Queer creators: the game was made by a developer or team who are openly queer and happy to be listed that way. We never out anyone.

Games from anywhere in the world are welcome. Games where queerness is up to the player, like optional romances, are listed separately. Every entry links to at least one source that backs up its representation.

Get involved

Made a game, or know one we've missed? Use the submission form. Corrections are just as welcome, especially from developers about their own games.
